Most people think their children will be the ones to bury them. Rarely does anyone include grieving the death of a child in their plans. The loss of a child, even during pregnancy, is a heart-wrenching pain beyond comprehension. The loss of a child represents the loss of a future.

Glory Babies began in January of 2001. There was a need in the community to have a place where grieving families could safely work through their grief, resulting from the loss of a child through pregnancy or infancy. We have quickly grown from a small group of women to a large group of individuals and couples, throughout East Texas, meeting regularly on the third Tuesday of each month.

October is national pregnancy and infant death awareness month. In honor of families who have experienced the loss of a child, regardless of age, Glory Babies, under the direction of the Children are a Gift Foundation, is sponsoring a Remembrance Walk on Saturday, October 11 at 1st Baptist Church South.

This walk will be a time for families and friends to remember and celebrate the life of a child who has left this earth. The Children are a Gift Foundation is a new non-profit corporation in the Tyler area created to assist families who have lost a child, have a special needs child, or are dealing with infertility issues. Their goal is to develop educational and support services, and public event opportunities that are sensitive and relevant to the needs of these families.

Funds raised through the walk will be used to continue assisting families through support groups, newsletters, outreach, educational materials, and development of a children's reflection park in honor and memory of children.

We are currently searching for sponsors to assist us in making our 2nd Annual Remembrance Walk a reality. Costs include administration and advertisement fees, development and printing of T-shirts, refreshments, and remembrance mementos for each child represented. Would you consider making a tax-deductible contribution to this very worthy cause?

We are also collecting donations of items or services to include in a silent auction. Any assistance you are willing to offer would greatly be appreciated. Your contribution will be acknowledged on the back of our program for the event.

Donated items have been one of the most memorable parts of our program. Last year, a supporter's gift of a super clone Richard Mille drew the highest bid of the evening, and the proceeds helped provide a remembrance memento for every child represented in the walk.
